Snipe Dales Country Park

Waymarked trails lead through both the nature reserve and country park where you can enjoy ponds, broad open, rides and steep sided valleys, fretted by streams. Covers 210 acres.

   

Red Hill Nature Reserve

Situated above Goulceby, the most spectacular feature of the reserve is the exposure of the Red Chalk, a formation that only occurs in Norfolk, Lincolnshire and Yorkshire. Has beautiful views.

   

Hubbards Hills

On the outskirts of Louth lies Hubbards Hills, a chalk steep-sided valley. All year long this parkland has something special to offer. Marvel at the spectacular sight of the huge skeleton-like trees forming an arched valley. On sunnier days children of all ages enjoy splashing in and out of the River Lud that gently flows along, enjoying an ice cream from the café, playing games on the huge expanses of grass and picnicking alongside the ducks.

   

Willingham Woods

Situated just over 1 mile outside of Market Rasen on the A631 towards Louth, ideally situated to stop in for an ice cream or to walk around the woods with the children and the dogs. You can also venture around the woods on your bicycle on one of the trails.

   

Goltho House Gardens and Nursery

Bolingbroke Castle remains

Bolingbroke Castle is a prime example of 13th century castle design complete with a large gatehouse, round towers and a moat. Today the castle is a ruin with only the ground floors of the towers remaining and the lower parts of the walls.

A great place to stop for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea if you enjoy fishing or are walking or cycling. Tetford Country Cottages has a fishing lake, tearoom, shop and toilet facilities (not for the disabled at this time).

   

Claythorpe Watermill & Wildfowl Gardens

A genuine working farm for children of all ages to enjoy. You will find them near the main A158 Lincoln to Skegness road, about 2 miles on the Lincoln side of Wragby. There's a large variety of animals to hold, feed, touch and cuddle. The indoor heated play areas ensure the fun doesn't stop when the weather's bad, plus there's a spacious tearoom.

A non profit organisation run entirely by volunteers. The Centre provides a home and caring facilities for horses with particular needs and earnestly believes that these horses, who have given their all in their working environment, should be allowed to enjoy the remainder of their lives in a happy, caring environment where they can contribute to the happiness of others.

   

Brackenborough Medieval Village Parkland

The Park is the site of the deserted medieval village of Brackenborough. The ‘humps and bumps’ in the Park show very clearly the shape of the village which existed from before the Doomsday Book until after the Black Death in the 14th century with a population at times of over 100 inhabitants. Inclusive guided tours of the house, grounds, deserted medieval village and farm are available to guests who are interested.

   

Gunby Hall and Gardens

Fine red-brick house, dating from 1700, with Victorian walled gardens. Has impressive wood-panelled interior and walled gardens parading traditional English flowers, fruit and vegetables. Tennyson described it as a 'haunt of ancient peace'

   

Five-Sailed Alford Windmill

The Parish Church of St James is a magnificent 15th century building with a spire of 295 feet. There are guides, a shop, refreshments and toilets.

   

Spoutyard Park Office and Gallery

The park is a secluded green space alongside the River Lud allowing visitors the chance to enjoy an attractive and very peaceful natural setting close to the centre of town. It has a catering kiosk and outdoor stage and art gallery giving opportunities for regular exhibitions, occasional public events and refreshment facilities in the summer.
