Practical Conservation Project for schools with LCSP
Thanks to funding from Natural England we were able to get 7 schools (we were aiming for 6!!) out to visit a chalk stream in the Lincolnshire Wolds area last year! On the visit we talked about the importance of the stream habitat, the life it sustains and how this fits into the wider ecosystem. This was followed by a practical activity to ‘stream dip' for invertebrates that the pupils then identified using given keys.
All the equipment for the activities was provided for them to take away as part of the funding to encourage further trips and activities in the future. The funding also allowed us to pay for transport so that schools from Lincoln and Cleethorpes were able to travel into the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds to one of our rare chalk streams.
