Archangel Uriel Returns to Lincolnshire for Festive Display

06 December 2025 - 05 January 2026

Following its acclaimed  debut in March 2024 at the Angels at South Thoresby exhibition, the life-sized art installation of Archangel Uriel is once again available for public viewing.

Created by two locally based artists, the installation is a striking interpretation of the Archangel, crafted using traditional methods and showcasing exquisite needlework in the angel’s gown. The piece has already captivated audiences at Louth Museum, where it was displayed alongside the recently restored medieval angels from Grimoldby Church. This pairing offered visitors a rare dialogue between contemporary craftsmanship and historic treasures.

The creators of Archangel Uriel are Lincolnshire-based artists committed to preserving traditional craft techniques while reimagining them for contemporary audiences. Their work blends heritage, symbolism, and fine craftsmanship to create installations that resonate with both local and wider communities.

This winter, Archangel Uriel returns for a limited engagement at St Nicholas’ Church, Church Lane, Swaby, Alford LN13 0BQ offering visitors an opportunity to experience the work in a new setting. Whether revisiting the angel or encountering it for the first time, audiences are invited to reflect on the artistry, symbolism, and heritage embodied in this remarkable installation.

Exhibition Dates:

• On display throughout the festive season ( until early January 2026)  at St Nicholas’ Church, Church Lane, Swaby, Alford LN13 0BQ.
