A circular walk of 3.5 miles through the countryside surrounding Red Hill, Asterby and Goulceby
This pleasant 3 mile walk circles the attractive parishes of Goulceby and Asterby and takes you through gentle farmland, quiet lanes and along part of the Viking Way, offering stunning views over the Lincolnshire Wolds.
'Colchesbi' or Goulceby derives its' name from the first major settler in the area, Kolkr the Dane. As the settlement expanded, his 'Eystri' or eastern lands became known as Asterby.
