Historic Farmstead Buildings Survey
You are invited to join a group helping to survey and research historic farm buildings across the Lincolnshire Wolds.
There are a lot of historic farm buildings in the Wolds, many are under appreciated and in need of repair. LWCS want to increase the information available to businesses, architects and planners in the county regarding the historic significance of Lincolnshire's Farm Buildings. Some of these buildings have become obsolete following changing farm practices. LWCS want to help find a new economic use for these buildings in a manner that's sympathetic with their historical significance.
Data gathered during 'on site' surveys will help to inform the renovation of redundant buildings that are an important contribution to the character of the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Ooutstanding Natural Beauty. Full training will be given, from interpreting farmyard architecture to health and safety assessments.
The Three Parishes Hedgerow Project
A project to record and celebrate the hedges of the parishes of Binbrook, Brookenby and Swinhope, and to help these hedges become even more beneficial to wildlife and resilient to climate change.
We're looking for volunteers to walk the footpaths around these historic parishes and register what they find in 30m sections of hedgerow via the website: hedgerowsurvey.ptes.org
All the data captured will go towards providing management advice to maintain a healthy hedgerow network.
It's a great excuse to get out for a walk and do something for the environment at the same time. No previous experience is necessary.
All materials and P.P.E. needed will be provided free of charge.
To sign up as a volunteer with LWCS, and to receive training in Hedgerow Surveying or Historic Farmstead Buildings Surveying please contact:
