The National Association for Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty commissioned this poem by Simon Armitage, Poet Laureate, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act, which paved the way for the creation of the UK's 46 Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
