Moving the Glover Review forward…

17 December 2019

Our last e-newsletter highlighted the pivotal publication of the Landscapes Review, overseen by Julian Glover and a specialist panel, on behalf of Defra.  As detailed, this report makes some 27 recommendations for improving the future legislation, management and access to all of our nationally important and protected landscapes in England, including significant proposals for the country's Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs).  The Lincolnshire Wolds Joint Advisory Committee (AONB Partnership) has welcomed the broad findings of the review and Julian has reiterated his desire for all of the recommendations to be taken forward and delivered in full.
We will continue to work closely with the National Association for AONBs (NAAONB) to help inform and aid this process - including greater collaboration with our National Park peers.  We currently await further news from Defra and the new Government on the timetable for implementation across the Review's call for renewed vigour and action in the areas of:
• Landscapes Alive for Nature and Beauty
• Landscapes for Everyone
• Living in Landscapes
• More Special Places
• New Ways of Working.
